Thursday Full of Love

That is what the outfit for today is all about :)

Wearing a stunningly skinny red jeans coupled with floral accent top and heels, what else can you describe how am I today rather than being inlove?  Ohh, I've got so much love to give....lol! So much love to give for a volunteer work tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.  Yes, you heard it right.  I am doing some social work for Abu Dhabi community. 

It took me for a while to search some social / charity group here in the UAE that I can join and volunteer work for a good cause.  It's something that I desired since I left the PI.  I missed doing these things back in the Philippines.  From providing medical missions to inmates and remote barangay areas, setting up livelihood projects for deserving families, etc. and etc.  The whole social work thing.

It is in this way that I feel I am somebody.  A human.  It is so rewarding to see the result of your work  benefit others or the community in anyway your service has served its real purpose. 

I do not have that capability to put up my own charity organization yet for a wider reach of beneficiaries but who knows, I may be able to have it someday.  Meanwhile, I have to continue what has been staggered for a while where there is a need for me to be involved in activities for humanitarian cause. This is what all I know to feel that I am here, to serve that real purpose. xxx

Thursday Comfy Outfit!

This pair of heeled blew me away! Whoa love 'em much!

The complete outfit is all new grabs from F21! Ohhh, except the choker, she's from Claires.  Just eyed her yesterday and I fell in love with that stunningly heart-shaped pendant and what else, not bad for a AED20 half price-cut deal huh?  Can't just resist not to pass by.

Need I say more how comfortable this whole outfit is? Ohhh boy it is! I can wear 'em all day long may at work, strollin' at the mall or even a casual meet up again with the girls tonight, perhaps?  Well that's to celebrate the weekend.  But I need to hit the running field first before any 'cos I aint have my wellness time yesterday waiting for something to receive almost in vain :(

How Do I Know if ....

....I will not take a challenge to discover my strengths and weaknesses in fashion and styling arena?  Although I have not gone through a formal education on this field and does not see my personal style as a high-end touch compared to the renowned fashion icons in the world, this will not be the reason for me to be hesitant showing the world what my passion is.

So, the long-awaited first attempt was finally done by joining the Style MOEment competition held in the United Arab Emirates.  The competition is yet to be concluded on 12 Mar 2011 to evaluate the most popular contestant  who will garner the highest votes on their Facebook page. When the theme of this contest is Fashion and the winner should be the one who has the most fashionable outfit worn on their entry photo, the judgement will be based on the number of votes garnered by the contestants.  So this becomes a popularity contest as you may try to understand.

Anyway, it doesn't matter whether I will win or lose.  For me, joining and being accepted on this competion gave me a feeling of a big winner already.  The experience and support of my friends who voted for me are very self-uplifting.  I did not expect to have such kind of warm support that even I have only kept this thing for myself and did not wish to be known by many because of fears of rejection for those who will refuse to believe in me.

It gives me reasons to love my craft, big time!  Truly an inspiration.

This is My Way as a Proud Filipina, What About Yours?

Hello friends. I am one of the contestants for the Style MOEment competition sponsored by one of the big malls in the United Arab Emirates, named Mall of the Emirates (MOE).  The competition is a search for the most stylish and fashionable person in the UAE. Only one winner will be chosen from the contestants of different nationalities (Europeans, Americans, Asians, Arabs, Africans, etc.).  The entry photo of the contestant that will garner the highest number of votes before 12 March 2011 on FACEBOOK - Style MOEment page will be the winner.  The winner’s story will be featured on print, TV and other forms of Fashion ads. It is a promotional tool for Mall of the Emirates and its stores so popularity is the key tool to help win the contestants.

This is my very first time to join a competition that is a perfect venue to express my innermost passion of style.  I never thought that the fashion tidbits I had only in mind will remain to be just a mere thought with no chance of showing to the world where creativity and real art is a tangible beauty that everyone can appreciate.

This competition has opened an opportunity for me to realize my self-worth and self-confidence that I was doubtful and almost believe I never had.  Joining this competition has indeed helped me changed that perception. That race, ethnicities, caste or skin color will not be a reason to hinder one’s dream to achieve and to excel what she’s best at. To join a competition like this is a manifestation that I am, a Filipina, can be at par to compete with others of the best stylish known ever from each different group.

No one has influenced me to join this competition.  It is a sole decision and call to represent my Race to achieve something that will make the Filipino Race especially in the United Arab Emirates be proud of.  This challenge will be a little thing to consider for myself but the pride and recognition that will identify me as a Filipino is an accomplishment for the whole Filipino community.

 

Let’s stand for that Pride!  Please join me on this battle and challenge my opponents through your VOTES. It will only take a minute to cast your vote but the fact that you became an instrument to make a difference for your fellowmen is a PRIDE that will always remain in the hearts of the Filipinos for generations.

A Matter of Selecting the Pair of Eyeglasses that Fits for You

I have nothing against people who would want to wear eyeglasses nothing but a change of look or simply for fashion.  But trying it to myself for the same reason will not be appealing to me.  I will wear them obviously to serve its purpose. 

I struggled to make myself believe that I can still see things clearly and need not require a pair of glasses to correct my vision. But I still didn't win the battle inspite of all and denial of the situation just made it worse.  It wasn’t a thing for me to go for an eye checkup because I was really strong to tell myself that I don’t need one and wearing eyeglasses is a big NO. I did not want to see myself having that nerdy-look I used to see back from my high school and college classmates.  And it wasn’t just on the nerdy-look I don’t wish to have because I know how it is to be annoying as well wearing a pair.

Until such time that I needed to forget whatever I was denying before and accept the fact that my eye vision is deteriorating and needed corrections.  I was considering for a surgery but my doctor advised me that my case isn’t that serious and wearing an eyeglasses is better.  He can recommend for a Lasik or Laser surgery to those with -4.00 power vision but mine was only -0.75 at that time, so again, classified as not being too serious. What the heck isn’t serious, I am almost blind and barely see things 5-meter afar. But I didn’t say a word and get my very first pair of eyeglasses to get back that eye vision I used to have few years ago.

Yes, I am now wearing a pair of eyeglasses.

I didn’t know anything about eyeglasses, so, having the first pair I got was just a normal pick for me.  I needed it to be light and comfortable because I will be wearing them every long day at work.  It was frameless and indeed very light.  The shape, color or simply a fashionable style of the eyeglasses didn’t matter to me in choosing my first pair of eyeglasses.  My simple requirement was met and I was happy with it.

I managed to have my frameless glasses for months and I got bored.  I didn’t like my frame anymore.  Thanks (*with a grudge) to the great influence of these top designers that introduces numbers of styles you will die to have one.  Brand became an added requirement for my eyeglasses. And a top designer’s brand means destroying my budget. And what happens after I got bored with my frame again? It’s really unbelievable that it became like an addiction. I seek for a new pair and lost interest in it and so on and forth.

I wasn’t being wise and careful in choosing the kind of frame I should have.  I got hypnotized of those pieces by top designers and didn’t care to pay a pricey one.  Then I realized it isn’t clever to be putting a lot of money just to have that feeling of fame and recognition because you are wearing a designer’s frame.  So I dropped the idea of being too brand conscious.  This doesn’t apply in buying my pair of eyeglasses only because I always go on a practical perspective of the things I buy.  However, it’s a different story if it’s ON SALE because I can’t definitely resist not grabbing a thing.

On another note, I am still on for a stylish pair but not necessarily paying a lot for it. The shape, color and material are what matters to me now regardless of the brand.  I got indulged having made of rubber and plastic.  No more stainless.  Rubber and plastic frames are just fashionable and fits my style. 

I feel like I am wearing my eyeglasses nothing but just for FASHION!

Here's just a quick outfit post before I hit off the weekend.  A black and white combination topped with grey dotted bolero to flaunt the simple yet stylish touch of the whole outfit.

Who says wearing shorts at work will not be possible? But before thinking for such, do consider a review on the liberalism and conservatism of people around you.  That is why, a careful pick of top and accessories that will suit to pair with a shorts is just minimal to come up with a trendy yet classy outfit.

I will have the opportunity in solitude again for two days.  That means, a day off as well from blogging.  Allow me please to have the days spent for myself, well perhaps, as I will be doing a lot of exercise and cutting-off-the-fats sacrifices.  This is an initial plan and I hope I can keep it.

It's been weeks that I wasn't able to run and do my after-work exercise.  The weather in the UAE will make one a lazy bum. Indulge from lousy movies to watch cos you don't have a choice.  Every must-watch movie has already been viewed and reviewed and the rest are the leftovers that will invite and force yourself to dig in from your library. ooh there is one more, I became fascinated with vampires! weirdo am I you may think but don't go a lot beyond, I just glued myself watching 'the vampire diaries'.  are you following the same?

This is basically the fruit of a cold weather in the UAE.  Not to mention about how I gained back and dying to cut the fats all over again. And that brought myself back to go for an hour and half run yesterday. So after weeks and weeks of not moving my a*s out at the running field, what do you think my legs will become?

But that doesn't stop me wearing the stilleto shoes to complete the whole outfit for today.  I like the simplicity and color coordination of this outfit.  By the way, that was a quick pull from my closet last night.  Effortless indeed but the outcome is worth blogging off.  Be good to me and please agree ;-)

Mocha Loca

so gone casual today and it's not yet Thursday. i've just got no more time left last night to prepare for today's outfit when i reached the apartment as I was a bit out of energy after a grocery shopping and trembling from the cold air breeze outside for waiting someone to pick up some stuff essential for my weight management. yes, you heard it right - weight management? ohhh it's nothing new, i always do this the whole year round but seem to never get a good result. discipline required, lol.

oh and I went to the church and attended mass yesterday, well I always do ;-) did you?
